There's a lot happening in the Framingham area! But while there are many ways to find out what's going on, there wasn't one place to search through lots of different events. Until now.

There are several existing text-based calendars, such as on framingham.com or at the MetroWest Daily News. However, those are structured to only let you see listings by date. There's the local frambors e-mail list, but that's also not set up for searching by date, category or sponsor. And there are searchable specialty calendars which are limited to a narrow range of events (in this case, cultural.)

I'm a big fan of sortable information, where it's easy to query based on several different criteria.

And so, FraminghamEvents.com was born.

FraminghamEvents.com doesn't aim to take the place of framingham.com as a community bulletin board with local news, or any other existing resource. The goal is to do one thing only, but do it well -- gather listings about interesting local events, and let you search through them by different criteria. The site aims to be as comprehensive as possible for entertainment listings in Framingham. (Government meeting listings are welcome, but I'm not aiming to reproduce the meeting calendar on the town Web site.) You'll find some listings of interest in nearby towns, but I don't yet have the resources to offer complete events listings throughout MetroWest.

FraminghamEvents.com is still in beta. I'd be interested to hear your feedback. Or, if you'd like to help keep it current, just a few minutes a week could make sure the site has as many listings as possible.
